This morning I felt the Lord come and tenderly speak to me;
"Intercession is not a gift - it's a gift"
Intercession is not an ability - it is a present. A well chosen present, wrapped up in the form of God's nearness to us. The gift of sharing in the emotions of His heart on an issue or situation. Although it may feel burdensome at the onset of revelation, as we give it back into His almighty hands, the burden becomes the oil of joy in our lives - the joy of being considered a dear friend to whom God has chosen to share His heart.
It a blessing made available to all of us through the simple invitation; "draw near to Me and I will draw near to you."
There is one unique feature of those who are marked for intercession.
It is not their personality
It is not their purity
It is not their spiritual maturity
It is simply this; that they are human - formed in the image of God for the express purpose of sharing in His divine nature of Compassion and Justice.
When we feel the burden of God's heart, we encounter His compassion. When we response with a cry of "Abba!", we demonstrate our agreement with God's heart for justice - crying out to our Sovereign King for the release of His kingdom upon the earth as it is in heaven.
This is the gift of intercession...the present of His presence.
