Heh guys, finally internet access. Heavenly. Jon has taken the girls to Target to allow me some much needed non-children time. Sweetheart.
So here I am at the coffee shop right beside the prayer room with internet access, a warm coffee and my new IPOD. Jon bought it for me for my birthday. Of course it has more features than I know what to do with but I'm getting used to using it. It has the ability to record sound as well as video. I think also to take pictures but of course I don't know how to do this yet.
It was a great surprise. Jon took me to the "Apple" store where they have only Apple technology for sale. So I have to walk from the car to this mystery store with my eyes closed and covered. Then he gets me to stand directly infront of this IPOD display where plastic "Nano IPOD's" the size of Emma are hanging from the ceiling, one in every color possible.
So he tells me to open my eyes and when I finally figure out what they are he asks me which color I would like. It was a fabulous surprise and since I absolutely LOVE surprises it made it that much more awesome.
So I chose the dark pink. I joke that this way Jon will remember WHOSE IPOD it is and be a bit more hesitant to be seen in public with it!!
My birthday weekend was shared with my in-laws treating us to two nights in a great hotel with a water park for the girls. We had a FABULOUS TIME!!! It was so special to see people from back home. Unfortunately it made me homesick for the first time.
We also went to the Hallmark Head office as they have a visitor center with a play area for the kids. Unfortunately it was booked with school groups so the girls couldn't go in. However we did get to go to the visitor center that was full of Hallmark history, memorabilia, and cards from all over the world. My favorite was this station where you could hear the same card read in 10 different languages. Of course my other favorite memory was the 15 minute movie about how the cards come together. The photographs, the paintings, the personalized handwriting inside. Quite cool.
October apparently is breast cancer awareness month and it's obvious here in the states. There is this beautiful fountain we went to at one of the tourist attractions that we'd been to before. So on taking my in-laws there it was obvious that the water was now colored pink. It was quite cool. Pink water shooting out of all the fountains. The girls got a kick out of it. Also Jon was able to watch some NFL at the hotel and it was crazy seeing all these players wearing bright pink running shoes, pink gloves and pink bands all over their uniforms. And then it lead me to wonder, is there any other color attached to other forms of cancer?
For example, colon cancer could be "brown". Prostate cancer could be "red" (for ouch).
Nose cancer could be "green". Skin cancer could be "peach".
Now I'm probably walking a thin line between kinda humorous to unfunny. So sorry if I've offended anyone. ( And if you can think of any other creative ones let me know)
I want to attach some pictures of the weekend and then do a few more blogs.
Love you all. Rhonda
